PARLIAMENT TO DEBATE RAMSI MOTION

MONDAY 26TH JUNE 2017

This 10th Parliament will commence its sixth meeting on Monday 26th June 2017 purposely to consider at the Committee of the Whole House a joint report by RAMSI & SIG on RAMSI’s 14 year intervention.

The Clerk to Parliament Mr. Clezy Rore confirmed this after he received the statement of Government Business on Thursday 22nd June 2017.
“I have received the statement of Government Business for upcoming parliament sitting and parliament will sit for only two days 26 and 27 June to debate the RAMSI motion and then a special adjournment until 24 July, “Mr. Rore said.
The motion reads:
Motion No.25 – Consider Paper, Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) 2003 – 2017 by Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, Prime Minister to move:
“That Parliament resolves itself into a Committee of the Whole House to consider National Parliament Paper No.19 of 2017, the ‘Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) 2003 – 2017: A joint report by the Solomon Islands Government and RAMSI on the 14-year intervention.”
Mr Clezy alerted his officers to plan their proposed activities and tours or hearings before this sitting or after parliament adjourn sine die at the end of this sitting.
In addition to this RAMSI debate a couple of papers and reports are also prepared to be tabled as stated in the Monday 26th Provisional Order Paper.

The Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare will read the Statement of
Government Business for the week ending Friday 30 June 2017 before adjourning
Parliament for the next sitting day.
Parliament Media and Communications will televise and broadcast the 2 days
sitting via TTV and SIBC.
