PARLIAMENT MEETING COMMENCES TODAY

TUESDAY 1st NOVEMBER 2016

The 5th meeting of the 10th Parliament and the last for 2016 commences today Tuesday the 1st of November 2016.

As set down in the Order Paper for today, the following Bills were put on first reading:
1. The ‘Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill 2016’
2. The ‘Land Surveyors Bill 2016’
3. The ‘Child and Family Welfare Bill 2016’
4. The ‘Adoption (Amendment) Bill 2016’
5. The ‘Pacific Games 2023 Bill 2016’
6. The ‘Solomon Islands Tertiary Education and Skills Authority Bill 2016’

Parliament expects more Bills to come in the next coming days.
The Bills and Legislation Committee have held hearings into the following three Bills last week:

1. The Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill 2016
2. The Land Surveyors Bill 2016 and the
3. Adoption (Amendment) Bill 2016
The committee will continue to hold hearings into the other three new Bills namely:
1. The ‘Child and Family Welfare Bill 2016’
2. The ‘Pacific Games 2023 Bill 2016’
3. The ‘Solomon Islands Tertiary Education and Skills Authority Bill 2016’

A total of six Bills is currently before the House as Parliament expects more Bills including the 2017 Appropriation Bill 2016 in the coming weeks.
This meeting is expected to adjourn before Christmas if businesses before the House runs smoothly
